About

Hi! I'm Amanda, the face behind C Pendiente.

I’m fairly new to polymer clay, only starting in mid February 2021. My day job is working as a Registered Dental Hygienist, and our new Covid-19 guidelines are the catalyst for starting my journey into earring making. Before Covid, I used to enjoy dressing up for work, playing with lipstick colours and hair accessories, but that’s all gone out the window due to PPE. A scrub cap, gown, face shield, and constant mask wearing left me feeling blah, and let’s be honest - feeling this way at work isn't fun. Then one day it dawned on me...I could wear earrings! Small earrings that I could wash at the end of the day, a little pick me up, just like the good ole days! And voila! C Pendiente was born.

Why C Pendiente as a name? I say, why not?! All kidding aside, I’m not very creative or savvy when it comes to names, it came about on a whim. I knew I wanted to pay tribute to my little love, my pup Chloë. This is where the C comes from. Then I started brainstorming, which went something like this: Chloë is a chihuahua, chihuahuas originate in Mexico, Mexico is a Spanish speaking country, earring in Spanish is pendiente. Done! C Pendiente it is, and here we are.

Even though polymer clay is a new artistic medium for me, I have certificates in make up artistry and flower arranging, and dabbled in mala necklaces and gemstone bracelets in the past. I’m thrilled to be able to combine a little bit of these in this new adventure.

My goal is to produce a new collection every few months. In addition to working full time, I also study at The University of British Columbia, which is wonderful, yet time consuming.

My hope is that my jewelry will make you feel good when wearing it, brighten your day and help us all get through this pandemic a little easier. We may not be able to dress up or wear our favourite lipstick, but we can wear fun earrings and to me, that’s a win.

Thank you for being here, and I wish everyone good health + happiness 💜
